The idea
The platform for this project is designed to be used as a frame for a multitude of different car bodies.
It is one of the most important tasks in the automotive community to motivate and inspirer the future generation to get passionate about past four-wheeled creations.
The possibility for a child to touch, play with and even drive a vehicle, gets them closer to the automotive passion and the connection our generation has with those creations.
The 1:2 scale of this platform doesn't only elevate the car away from a cheap toy, furthermore, it makes it possible to grow the car together with the child even into adult age.
The platform as a whole is designed to be driven from everybody age 8 to adult.
Pedal, seat and steering wheel position is adjustable. The steering wheel is fixable in side- and mid-orientation for one or two children inside. The powertrain with it's 3kW of powerful enough to be fun for an adult/adult child, but is still adjustable to a child-friendly power through 6 different drive modes.
The base subframe is designed to be built in steel and/or aluminium. The focus points during the build were safety and adjustability.
Front and rear are fitted with disk brakes and the brakes are fully adjustable through a costume made braking system. Furthermore, the electric powertrain can be tuned to brake as well, on demand as an added rear brake or as a simulated engine brake.
The powertrain is powered by a 1,1kWh lithium battery at 72V and a 3kw electric motor. The battery is also able to supply a 12V onboard power circuit, for head-, signal- and brake-lights, a horn and other electric matters.
The steering is through a steering gear and universal joints to add safety, stability and drivability.
